COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES

Fuller_-_Street_View.1.pngCOMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES

The La Familia Community Outreach Services Department works with our community to build strong families, meet the needs of struggling parents, increase residents’ self-sufficiency, and promote youth development through modeling positive peer and adult relationships.

The Community Outreach Services Department provides a variety of programs and services designed to provide direct outreach and support services to the community, as well as improve community access to additional support services. These programs offer a place for people to meet with our team, learn about what programs and services we offer, participate in free classes and workshops, come together with their neighbors, and find out about what other benefits they can receive from local community based organizations and government programs.

YOUTH AND FAMILY OPPORTUNITY (YFO) PROGRAM

The Youth and Family Opportunity (YFO) Program provides services to develop place-based, integrated systems of services, support services and opportunities to serve youth and families. YFO increases access to health and wellness services for low-income and uninsured children and their families in Alameda County by offering prevention services, provided at the Fuller Neighborhood Resource Center and Glad Tidings Church as well as other locations, based on need. We offer free on-site community classes/workshops, such as English as a Second Language (ESL), Zumba, yoga/meditation, diabetes classes, as well as workshops and trainings on other specialized topics. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. The YFO Program is funded by Alameda County Health Care Services Agency.

PARENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

La Familia, in partnership with the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD), will provide HUSD parents and guardians with the opportunity to develop leadership and advocacy skills, while supporting family engagement and the academic success of HUSD students. These ‘Parent Ambassadors’ will increase the District’s capacity to build a community of leaders to support parent outreach regarding District initiatives, and refer and link HUSD students and their families to health services and other school site programs. The Parent Ambassadors will be a representative body that acts as a liaison between the District and the larger parent community, with the overall goal of supporting the educational success of all HUSD students.

CULTURA Y BIENESTAR (CYB)

La Familia provides culturally-responsive prevention and early intervention services through Cultura y Bienestar (CyB), a Mental Health Services Act funded program. CyB provides outreach, education, consultation, and early intervention services to the Latino communities throughout Alameda County’s Central and Tri-Valley Regions.

CyB increases historically underserved Latino residents’ access to county-based mental health services. Our services are culturally relevant and strength-based, which helps to build resiliency, knowledge, and practical skills that contribute toward the prevention of mental and behavioral health disorders. La Familia provides these services as a subcontractor with La Clinica.
